What Qualities to Look for When You Visit Various Churches

by | Feb 21, 2020 | Church

Finding a church can be a daunting task, especially in an area where it seems as though there’s a church on every corner. To help refine your search, therefore, it’s important to think through the qualities you want to see in a church. While each church will vary somewhat depending on its denomination, size, and other demographics, certain qualities should be true of any good Jacksonville Christian church that you visit. To help you in your search, here are a few qualities to get you started.

Thriving

While a large church doesn’t automatically indicate a good church, a Jacksonville Christian church should at least be thriving before you consider it for your church home. After all, you don’t want to spend years at a dying church only to see it fall apart when the people and the money run out. A thriving church should be multi-generational and should have a variety of programs that are suited for different age groups.

Welcoming

This quality is a little harder to pin down since nearly every church will claim that they’re a welcoming church. Pay attention to how you’re greeted as you find your seat in the worship center. Do people give a standard greeting, or do they take a few moments to introduce themselves and get to know you? Also, pay attention to how long people linger after the service is over, as this is a strong indication of the strength of the community that exists at that church.
